Play Wild Seas Slot Machine Free

From the get-go, Wild Seas looked promising to us. Pirates plundering the wealth of others and living a life of true freedom atop the waves of oceans was always a lifestyle many dreamed of, and when you add a little bit of extra detail on top of that, it goes a long way. The story is super simple, but the cinematic lead-in is quite well done.

The three Captains you see throughout the slot have come together and assassinated an infamous pirate, though, unknown to them, he left behind a daughter who will wreak havoc and vengeance in his name. It won’t win any writing trophies, but for gamblers who like a little snippet of story in their games, it’s a great way to immerse you into the rest of what Wild Seas has to offer.

And what it has to offer is a 5 reel slot with 178 ways you can win on it, a single, but very fun special feature, and a host of captains for you to take your revenge out on the only way you know how! Wild Seas is a great medium variance title, and it feels super fun to play.

We certainly recommend playing with Quick spin enabled, as it helps push through the frequent ‘heart stopper’ moments in which you’re almost on the verge of activating a special feature, but fail at the last moment.

The game’s Wild, a black flag with the logo printed out on it, also acts as the bonus trigger. They only appear on the second and fourth reel, and if you get Wilds on both positions at the same time, you activate the bonus. It’s a tough one to get, but once you do, you’re in for a big win.

While ELK Studios isn’t as popular as Microgaming or NetEnt, they’ve certainly been a presence ever since they’ve been founded in 2013.

Their early titles, such as The Lab and Electric Sam saw moderate success, but the team really hit it off with Poltava – a slot that was nominated for Game of the Year at the EGR awards, but the actual prize would evade the Swedish team until 2017, where Wild Toro would not only be nominated, but would win EGR’s Game of the Year award, cementing ELK Studios’ quality with a seal of pride they could show to the world.

They’re certainly not showing any signs of slowing down, and they’re already preparing their newest title, Kaiju, for a February release, so mark your calendars!

How to play it

We quite like the art direction Wild Seas has taken. The different coloured coins are, admittedly, somewhat generic, but the patterns on them are properly pirate themed.

But each of the three conspirators is rather stylised, and are clad in the colours of their country of origin, which are Portugal, France and England, respectively. And, of course, the crown jewel is the pirate’s daughter and the scourge of the seas, Anne Bonny, who, coincidentally, is also the biggest pay.

On the gameplay front, ELK’s release certainly lives up to the medium variance assignment it was given. There are frequent periods of drought, broken up by the hopes of the bonus finally triggering, and the relief when you finally see those ships start sailing across the reels.

There is an argument to be made that the slot could have used another special feature to break things up in the meantime, but with how expansive the existing one is, we’re willing to overlook things for the time being.

Special Features

So, once you get the Wilds into the second and fourth position at the same time, the game will randomly pick between one of the three Captains. Which one you get is random, and you want to get the more valuable ones, as the other two no longer make an appearance until the bonus is finished. At that point, four ships appear on the fifth reel, and each turn move once to the left.

One turn afterwards, the pirate ship appears, and shoots at the merchant ships. It takes three hits to take a ship down, and if it is hit once, it doesn’t move for a turn. Which ships are fired upon is also random.

If you do succeed in sinking a ship, it will drop chests of treasure as well as explosive barrels. Your ship will fire on the chests to open them and turn them into sticky Wilds, but it also has a chance of hitting the barrels – and if it does, the special feature ends early. Either way, there’s a strong winning potential to be found in Wild Seas, with the right luck.

Maximum Payouts

That said, that strong winning potential is fully bound to the bonus. While we spent a lot of time on this title, and we enjoyed every second of the way, there’s no denying that any chunky win is going to come from the special feature.

That’s nothing particularly surprising, but if you were looking for more bonuses or a slot focused on the base game alone, this isn’t the right pick for you.

When it’s all said and done, we loved ELK’s latest release. We weren’t quite lucky with it, unfortunately, but it was a blast all the way through.

The simple story and the great starting scene really helps set the mood, and adds a little poetic justice when you hit a big jackpot after sinking the ships in the special feature. We certainly intend to play it more, and we hope you enjoy is as much as we did.
